Some competitors were thinking of ensuring a precise time, and another section would be considering on an unbeatable time, while yet another section would be there to ensure that they had a good tim. |
23 | Corse | Mille Miglia 2006 Marcel Massini, Henry T. Kistler, Vincent Yernaux MPS Editorial Mille Miglia - two magical words which sum up how much the Italians love motorsport. For thirty years, between 1927 and 1957, this flat-out road race from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia was watched by millions of cheering people, who lined the thousand mile route, oblivious to the danger. The modern Mille Miglia lives on as a three day historic rally, which caters to cars that ran, or could have run, in the original long distance event. |
27 | Notizie | Ferrari Club of America National Meeting and Concours Marcel Massini, Chris Current Fox Talbot The Ferrari Club of America is one of the oldest Ferrari clubs in the world. It was founded in 1962, and the first annual meeting was held in November of 1962 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Since the 1960s, the FCA Annual Meeting is organized every year by a different region, and this year the annual meet, the track, and the concours was hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Region (MAR), from May 31 to June 4, 2006 in the historic countryside just outside of Washington, DC. |
31 | Notizie | Reading Concours again produces a heartfelt family affair Reading has become a yearly stop on the Ferrari trail for many enthusiasts, with entrants and guest coming from farther than you might imagine, and not just out of the Northeast. The simple reason is that this is an enjoyable show, made comfortably by the excellent hospitality of Pietro Castiglioni and his extended family. |
31 | Notizie | Greenwich Concours bravely faces bad weather and turns out many fine Ferraris Car guys are car guys, and it takes a lot to keep them away from seeing many fine automobiles all together in one spot, especially if that spot is a picturesque one, and especially if the show has a good history and is respected. This is particularly the case with the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance, his has suffered the astounding, and completely undeserved, ill fortune to have three rain events in the last five years. |
31 | Notizie | Ferraris at the Amelia Island Concours Keith Bluemel |
32 | Notizie | Villa d'Este 2006 Villa d'Este crowns its success as one of the oldest venues showcasing fine automobiles Marcel Massini, Urs Ramseier Marcel Massini, Keith Bluemel Begun in 1929, the "Coppa door Villa d'Este", to give this Concours d'Elegance its proper name, can lay claim to being one of the oldest and most glamorous concours type shows in existence, with a laudable continuity broken only by the war years. If the accepted concept of a concours show is "beautiful and elegant automobiles in beautiful and cultured surroundings," then Villa d'Este can be credited with defining the format once and for all. |
34 | Notizie | Ferrari 612 Kappa Scaglietti A return to the custom bodied Ferrari Marcel Massini Marcel Massini An exclusive custom made version of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, commissioned by collector Peter S. Kalikow, was exhibited at the recent 2006 Villa d'Este Concours d'Elégance. Mr. Kalikow asked Pininfarina to design, engineer and build a special version of the 612 Scaglietti, to enhance the car's own elegance and exclusiveness. This request was accepted by Ferrari, as an enhancement of its own tradition of creating exclusive models for special customers. |
35 | Notizie | Ferrari 575 GTZ Zagato Marcel Massini Marcel Massini Collector Yoshiyuki Hayashi, in the classic tradition of the many purchasers of exclusive cars who simulated the creativeness of Italian coach builders in the 1950s and 1960s, asked Carrozzeria Zagato of Terrazzano di Rho (Milan) in Italy if they could create a body for his 575 Maranello, in the style of the famous 250 GT LWB Berlinetta Zagato of 1956. |
37 | Feature | Desert Discovery 0052 M The incredible story of the 166 MM, stored in a garage for nearly 50 years. The dry desert air keeps it pure and an untouched bracket is the result Marcel Massini The Klemantaski Collection, Ron Kimball, Jacques Swaters Collection, Courtesy Manny del Arroz, Courtesy Marcel Massini One of the twenty-five 166 MM Touring Barchetta, has not been seen in the past fifty years: chassis number 0052 M, the 20th example built. The author had the pleasure to locate this unique Barchetta in beautifully preserved and extremely original condition, and with a lovely patina. 0052 M had survived in the dry desert heat of Arizona in America, where it had been stored for many decades. |
50 | Feature | The Ferrari Classiche Program Part two - an interview with Ferrari Classiche Director Roberto Vaglietti Keith Bluemel I recently spoke with Roberto Vaglietti of Ferrari SpA, head of the Ferrari Classiche department in Maranello, to establish the ongoing situation with the certification program and the development of Ferrari Classiche. Roberto Vaglietti kindly gave up part of his morning, despite a heavy schedule, as witnessed by the numerous telephone interruptions, during my visit to the Factory on April 20, 2006, to explain the development of his department and the direction in which he is guiding it. |

Seielstad Jerry McDermott With this article, we finish our long and fruitful series on the Ferrari racing cars at the Midwest tracks of the USA. We've spent most of our time at Road America, which was the most popular venue for the cars, and then we went on to exotic Meadowvale with America's only Monza type banked wall. This edition finishes with a look at some of the other tracks used at the time, and the cars that raced there. |

74 | Guida | A Guide to all Ferraris produced Plus the market as of August 1, 2006... from a survey of selected dealers Keith Bluemel, Michael Sheehan The market for Ferraris is holding up well, with steadily rising prices for many models, rising slowly to be sure, but rising nonetheless. What Ferraris are missing out on (is that good or bad?) is the spectacular run-up in prices seen for American muscle cars, American sports cars, American hot rods, and American manufacturer show and concept cars. |
